Yeah you're right Zoned, it's Metallic Beauty, no doubt about it (I do have one too smile.gif )
The runners are a little bigger on the AirRam, but the only (or most relevant) difference I think could come out, is the rounded extreme of the AirRam's plenum (oposite side to the TB); where MaxxTib's design is squared; I think rounded would avoid turbulences better.
However, overall is a good alternative to just a oem IM.
And guys, once you have freed the exhaust with something nice, and have any kind of upgraded cam (1.8 and above) our engines REALLY ENJOY the AirRam.

I always wanted to do this, but I don't have access to an Aluminum welder. Looks really fine.
No dissing the Airram, but this is a great option.

a few things you need that I'm sure you are aware of are a few vacuum connectors and a connector of the IAC (if you are using it)

maxxtibs manifold would surely outperform the air ram for a turbo application.. hands down.. and since he has a turbo his manifold will own the air ram.

Why?

The runners are virtually the same in length (total, the OEM's curve side to side, while the Airram's go up).

Everything about the airram is bigger. More air.

Airram is smoother, less restriction.


Side note, Maxxtib, that is the best looking modded OEM IM I have seen so far. Props. If I didn't have an Airram, I'd probably want one.

Trying to figure out what you changed on it... Did you just replace the plenum (top part) with a better flowing one? It doesn't appear as though you changed the runners at all, is that correct?
How long did it take, and how easy was it?

I had the Airam for a brief period and I'm still gonna knock it. There's no justification for the cost versus building your own at a local welder.
There's also no reason for you to have larger runners than stock, unless you're running over 300whp. Do you have a turbo Zoned? In that case, you're only hurting your performance by enlarging the runners. You're losing velocity.
The only performance gain for both turbo and n/a engines under 300whp is the TB and flange upgrade.

I would never buy an Airam for what it costs, and I'm sure if Maxx would mass produce his, then people would be buying that instead.

Wow, that looks amazing man. All it needs is a logo, a Idle Bypass port, and a port to hook up a vacuum manifold.

I'd rock it for SURE if it fit under everything.

Go get a dyno before and after with that bish.

If I were to mass produce it, I would just engrave a "Tiburon" logo on it just to aesthetically please everyone.

Thanks for the good comments there guys, I think it should work very well, it might not work as well as the airram intake I allready have on my car, yes i do have an airram so I will try this one to see how it feels in comaparison. I did a little more than just add a new plenum, I shortend the stock runners by about three inches and bored them out a bit. I still need to add the Idle bypass port, throttle cable bracket and a few vacccum nipples, Heres a few pics side by side with a stocker.
