New Intake Manifold
#1
Well I was at work today and finished everything I had to do and still had another five hours to go, I noticed I still had my old intake sitting on the shelf that I wanted to port out months ago but just never got around to it, well when I pulled it off the shelf the next thing I know I'm cutting it to peices, welding and porting. I had no actual plan on what I was gonna do with it when I started but I ended up with this, I don't think it turned out to bad.
What ya think, still needs a few thing done.

That's exactly what I was trying to tell people to do instead of paying $600 for the Airam. The runners have enough diameter for plenty of air. You just need to replace the plenum and TB flange.
If you wanted, you could shape it differently so that it fits under a strutbar.

looks really nice. let us know how it works compared to your other manifold.
i would have done something like this instead of air ram, but i barely know how to weld, much less weld alumminum and fab up something like that..

As JonGTR said, this is something that could have been done a loooooong time ago; I also thought about it when I looked at my oem IM, but I have no skills, nor knowledge nor tools to do it.
I think with that you probably get 90% of the benefits at 25% of the cost.... whou could beat that?
Of course having an AirRam is fancier, but the cost is very high, besides there are no available right now.

Looks nice.
I love my airram though tongue.gif
Comparison:
The airram is slanted, more even air distribution.
The airram's plenum is bigger, and smoother.
The airram's runners are not as restrictive.
I am not trying to knock you, because that is some damn good work, and you got it done for cheap, but there has been a lot of people knocking the airram lately, and I just thought I would stick up for it. If you've never had one on your car or seen one in person, then don't diss it, because it's metallic beauty.
