Negative. People grooving their own heads seems like a crowd that coincides with the "too cheap/unwilling to pay for before/after dyno runs" set.

Depending on your cash call up Maul/Wiseco Pistons and see if they have something that will bump your compression ratio up if you are not turbing the car this is your best starting point to get real power. Maul/Wiseco should be able to find you some high quality forged pistons that they make to fit the application. Then go with the Beta II head with a performance valve job at least a 3 angle and talk with a speed shop on their recommendations for what cams you should put in given the specs of your engine. Especially if you up the comp ratio. Then you should upgrade to whatever engine management system you choose I would go with one that allows you to monitor and tweak settings in real time and see if your fuel system is able to handle the new demands of the engine( probably not) so you will have to upgrade fuel pump and injectors to handle the new demands of the engine. Don't forget about the light weight flywheel and performance clutch to get the most out of the new engine. I would recommend the same for turboing the car except to bump down the compression ratio so it can handle the boost you are putting in it. But start with your plans for the bottom end of the engine so you can figure out what is the best course of action for the top end.

Just like turboing a car, going n/a requires research.

I shot a 75 shot with my 1.8 pistons and the car ripped so much harder than it did on stock compression.

this is the simplest way i can put it.Its more about how the n/a mods work together. Say you have intake, header, exhaust, and you only gained 15-20 hp. If you put high compression pistons in you will gain more hp out of the pistons with the supporting mods.

If you really wanted to make n/a power rework the head for better flow Decrease quench clearance on the head as much as possible. Oversized valves. You might want to go as far as a custom intake manifold. Research hard about what cam lift and duration you want, And get them custom ground.

am i wasting my time here, stop talking and go out in the garage and DO SOMTHIN!
