Well then we're all up to speed, group hug! grouphug.gif

Installing *just* 1.8L pistons has been DONE several times in the US, to good effect, including by a couple of members here.

If I ever get the scratch to finish my engine, I'll try to remember to do some side-by-side photos of the two types of pistons.

installing 1.8 pistons on 2.0's is a super popular mod down here in PR, people go as far as boring their blocks 40 over and bumping the bore to 83mm to get even higher compresion

Any other 1.8 or 1.6 Beta parts wort knowing about while I'm here?
The 1.6 gearbox is slightly closer ratio-d on UK models, has that been tried by you guys? Is it worth trying?

Just so I'm clear... would I be replacing the pistons and the connecting rods? Or would I be putting the 1.8L pistons on my current connecting rods?

OK perfect. I'm gonna be replacing the lifters so with the cams out would it be beneficial to go with some 1.8L Cams? I'm gonna try and find a price today. So far this is my plan:

1.8L Pistons, Port and Polish intake manifold, 1.8L Cams, New lifters (maybe mechanical?), New timing belt and chain, Under Drive Pulley, Light Weight Fly Wheel, New Clutch (if necessary)

lol fair enough. I have been digging heavily through older posts, but I guess I was just interested in getting the opinion on my specific build.

ehh 1.8 pistons, 1.8 cam, lose the P/S and A/C, flywheel with IHE with nitrous is the most you want to do cost wise to a beta unless your going to turbo it. if you want to go faster buy a bike or get higher performance vehicle
