Ok, here is what I got so far from the engine:

KRD 4-1 Header
"High flow racing cat" (aka test pipe)
2.25" aluminum mandrel bent tubing
Apexi N1 Muffler

And my AEM CAI will be delivered on Wednesday.

Ok, first I installed the muffler and it did not change the sound greatly, it actually sounded like crap on the stock exhaust. Friday, I had the cat-back bent and installed. It was a little deeper, but still not loud enough. Then, this weekend, I installed the header and test pipe. OMG, it is now the loudest thing around!!! The tone is not that bad, but you can hear this thing for miles.

What would I suggest I do to quiet this thing without loosing hp. I drove my car for the first time on this set up yesterday and the hp increase is awesome, but this is my daily driver. I am thinking about putting the stock cat back on, but I don't want to loose all that hp. I don't know how much hp I gained, but the butt dyno is feeling pretty good and I beat someone by about 4 cars last night that has beaten my car on the stock set up numerous times (closed track of course).

No, my muffler didn't come with a silencer.

I thought about that. I am in the process of checking ebay for one though. I just got this project done late last night so I haven't had that much time to look.

How much would a silencer quiet this set up? That would be the perfect solution, because it would be very easy to remove before racing.

If you think it's loud now, your AEM will make it sound louder and a little different.

CyberShark said exactly what I was thinking. Also You have a "Racing Cat." on there. That's prolly where most of your noise is coming from. Personally I would get a high flow cat instead.

1. Cause I don't think it is "as loud"
2. Emissions Tests - the Racing Cat. is not a catylitic (??) converter you might fail where you're from but I dunno.

Just wait til you get your Intake on then start thinking about that. A silencer will help though, as for removing it. It does get warm.

Well I have a test pipe on right now and it is loud as shit. My problem is that I cant stand that stupid CEL light staying on. Not to mention how hard it will be to tune the car later....... So I just got a car-sound high flow cat. It should make it not so loud and it will also kepp that awful light off. And it shouldn't make much of a HP loss. Probably as noticible as using or not using a bypass filter on your intake.

loud=more power
quiet=less power

if you want your car to stay as powerful dont do anything to it, if you want to be quieter, you will have to loose some power....

try gettin glasspack muffler, it should make it a little quieter and sound nicer smile.gif

Dweet, I think it is about 3 and 1/2 inches, I will measure it tonight. It is a real Apexi N1 and I think they say they are 90mm.

As far as the test pipe goes, I guess I got lucky.

1. No CEL
2. No emissions checks in my state.

I am starting to get used to the sound and shifting at lower RPM's helps. And dont' get me wrong, at WOT the sound is incredible. It just sucks driving down a city street and almost being embarresed about how loud your car is.

I did checked under the hood today and it sounded like a lot of the noise was comming from up front and that means only one thing.

So, first I am going to find out if there is a leak and where it is. I wish it got cold enough in the mornings so I could see the exhaust comming out. Any ideas on finding exhaust leaks?

How many miles have you gone since the Test Pipe was installed?
