Civilized Debate Air Ram Vs. Stock
my main point was that some people like to brag about how much they spend on these things. I personally would get an airram if the price was right. But not for $600-$800. My ported IM works beautifuly with my N/A setup, and it cost me $0. Can't beat that. Plus, I polished the outside of it too so it's got the bling factor going on. Looks awesome in the engine bay.

Well thats also the thing socks, the airram has a sort of nostalgia that could make your butt notice a difference more, i wouldnt lie about what i felt but you know it could be my mind saying "this airram should pack a punch" so i dont want what i felt to be etched in stone, it could have been other factors.
Which is why i said the only way to tell for sure is to double dyno, 1 modded stock and 1 Airram. SAME car.

Patreezy already tested this.
The Airram outflows a ported/polished stock IM.
Period.
That debate is over (can't speak for Tim's, and until he mass produces them, it doesn't really matter, its just hearsay).
Now, it is up to people to decide FOR THEMSELVES whether they want to spend the money to get that extra little bit out of their car or not. It's kind of like the exhaust debate, or the headers debate. Some people pay extra for stainless steel and mandrel bends, some people want mild steel and press bends, will mandrel bends really make a noticable difference? Probably not, unless you are pushing some serious numbers. Is paying the extra money for the Apexi design that goes under the axel really worth it? Is Maintec really better than OBX? Yes, a little, but is it worth the extra money you pay for them? Depends on who you talk to.
Now, its just up to personal preference.

summed up very well, Zoned.
I see no further need for discussion. There has been a lot of information and suggestions given, mostly beneficial to all. Anything else, besides dyno postings, would be assumptions or hearsay.
Posting in this thread is like a rocking chair: it gives you something to do but it doesn't get you anywhere.

i did get a good gain on my own car (light weight, NA,cams and supporting mods) with the air ram versus a ported stock one
problem with the stock manifold (at least in a NA set up) is the way hyundai made the plenum and entries to the runners, they don't scream power....and even if it's ported it's stil la stock casting,it does have its limits unless you spent 3-4 hours welding on it then port it to something somewhat smooth
for a car with basic NA i'd go with a stock ported manifold, for a car with a more "extreme" NA set-up i would go with the air ram if money permits it
