Car shakes at 50-60mph. What could it be?

how many mods do you have?! It's shaking because it's putting so much power to the wheels that it's spinning faster than the earth's rotation, thus creating a warp in the time continuum, causing a vibration from the electrolysis of energy, mass, and time.

Either that, or it's wheel bearings, transmission, or the wheel isn't sitting flush against the hub.

Does the shaking go away as you lightly press on the brakes?

no shaking will still be there even if i hit the brakes, it sometimes starts at 45 if im really gassing it, but yeah it could be my sweet intake and underdrive pulleys that make it spin the tire so fast, (i wish) Ill try that neutral while going tomorrow but is it safe to do that? I find when i do that when coasting it catches pretty hard

Um if it's in just a certain range, it could quite possibly be your mounts. I mean motor mounts or even the transmission mount. My car also had a similar problem but at 55+ mph. I had the tires rotated and balanced but it didn't do anything. And if it's not the mounts, someone told me it could be the half-shafts.

Are you sure your lug nuts are tightened all the way? laugh.gif I know it sounds stupid, but Ive seen people not tighten them fully and then wonder why the car shakes at certain speeds.

That's why I asked about the braking. Worth checking anyways, but when I experienced this problem I found out a stud had broken off. When I would brake it would stop the vibration - not sure why - but it kept the wheel from wobbling

Always check the simplest things first... Are the wheels balanced? Are there any tire defects (unusual wear, bubbles, broken radial belts)? Are the lug nuts tightened to 90 Lbs/Ft? Only after these things check out do I start looking at bushings, motor mounts, etc...

Being a 99 model do you have captive rotors?? If so check the studs on them haven't snapped.
