There was a SE-R at the Dyno Day we did with the SO Cal SE-R owners club. They didn't get it up on the dyno, so no numbers to compare it with.
It was a grey one, so it didn't look like much. At first glance, it was a booring nissan 4 door. You would NEVER suspect that there was a 180 HP 180 Ft/lbs engine under the hood, a 6-speed gearbox to help it scream and the suspension/seats to handle all that power. That puppy is going sell, and sell well. If the V6 Tiburon costs more than the SE-R....My money goes to the SE-R. It may have less HP, but the same torque, and the nissan motor is bulletproof, takes mods well, and has killer aftermarket support.

I'll quit beating this dying horse here since I'm 99% likely to go Elantra GT and I want to stay on good terms but I'll say it again- The Altima and Maxima are NOT the same car! Yes, it is true that their dimensions are hideously similar but they share not one single body panel and the rear suspension is an advanced multilink compared to the POS beam axle in the Max. The motor is the same VQ35 and the power level is suspect in the Altima. It may be just a marketing ploy by Nissan to keep buyers of the Maxima happy. They are the same car in the same way that the 93' and 94' mustang are the same car.

yes, the rear suspension is different, but the Q35 uses the maxima engine, so does the pathfinder. And yes, they do share quite a few body panels and frame. Like I said, go down to your local dealership. Pop both hoods, park them side by side. They are the same frame/unibody, same doors, same door handles. And BTW...the new 2003 Maxima gets the improved rear suspension too. Why they put in on the Altima and not the Maxima first...I dunno.
