General questions about my accent.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Ben_97accent_S @ Apr 1 2010, 09:21 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Just got back from the junk yard and checked out the elantra. Turns out that its a 1994 and the engine is totally backwards. The cams are positioned on the right side, so after seeing that I knew it wouldnt work. I walked the lot and came across a 1996 elantra GLS wagon. I walked around it and then poped the hood and sure enough it had the beta1. I am not sure if its a 1.8 or 2.0 but it is a beta. The valve cover is black and so is the sparkplug cover. I asked about it and he said that his wife wanted it but there isnt a title to it so he is gonna talk to her and see if she still wants it. If not I have first dibbs on it. He said that it had jumped time, and me being a noob I wasnt sure if it was a interfearence engine so I am not sure if the valves are bent. The engine is clean though. I am going out to get some pics of my accent to post up.</div>
So is the beta 1 a interfearence engine? Im about to buy this beta swap.

they are interferance engines so it most likely has bent valves. If you reuse the accent trans and the location of the trans doesnt move then axles are not a problem, i believe the guys that had to shorten axles used the beta trans. I am running a beta 2 motor and trans in a 02 accent and it was a bit of work to say the least, wiring being the biggest hurdle. Someone correct me if im wrong but isnt the 1.8L beta boost ready as far compression goes?

Well the beta 1 i found for 300 has bent valves I assume because the guy said the timing belt jumped. Im not sure if I want to pay 300 for something thats gonna need another 300 to fix. I guess I need to hunt down a head for my G4E for the time being. Damn this sucks.
