Hyundai Accent Forum The Hyundai Accent Forum. Hyundai's little champ. While the Hyundai Accent and Hyundai Excel may be small, they respond very well to aftermarket modifications and is among the favorites for Hyundai tuners.

Default 01 accent project continued.....

Ok Random I did what you said. I am looking for a target HP of 250+. It will need to be a daily driver with the occasional drag abuse just for fun. Since I was told a V6 is not resonable I am looking elsewhere. I saw Mazda has a 1.3L 250hp engine coming out. Is there a spacific engine I could put in that would bring me toward my goal? Any help would be appreciated.

This is a 2001 Accent right? Why not just drop a BETA in it? You can pick 'em up cheap (like $500 for a longblock with low mileage), it ALMOST is a bolt-in on the newer Accents, change out some fuel lines, ECU and wiring and you've got yourself a 140HP Accent that's 100% daily driveable right there.

Spray a direct-port 100 shot and you've got the race version on-button. Cake.

You could probably do the whole setup for around $3K (assuming you do your own labor)

I didn't see the comment on the 1.3L engine...

You failed to realize (or comment) that this is a ROTARY engine, and is not a piston engine. Rotary engines are two orders of magnitude more efficient (displacement vs power output) than a 4-stroke piston engine. Because of the entirely different concept of a rotary, the displacement vs power *argument* cannot be applied.

I just didn't know. I am still learning about cars in general. 140 is not bad but I want more. hehe no **** huh? Money is not my problem. Insurence is. That is why I am keeping my accent, other wise I would buy an Eclipse GSX like I want to. So expense is nothing. Thanks for your help so far. Keep it coming guys.

Red is correct, and just about everyone else should be telling you the same.

Drop a BETA into the accent. Get use to it first. You all want more power, but you must remember, you are putting more power into a smaller car.

Its going to be alot faster then a tiburon, its about 500 pounds lighter.

Might I also mentiopn BETA is a better platform to get more power. Turbo Kits, S/c Kits, are all available for this engine in a more cheaper and easily obtainable form.

See how you like 140hp before you start asking for more.

Everyone always talks aboutthese betas, is beta just a term for an Elentra or Tiburon 2.0? Why is it called *Beta*.

Can I just drop a standard US 2001 Tib engine into my 2K1 Accent? Would this be called a beta swap?

Beta = Tib, Elantra 1.6, 1.8, 2.0
Delta = V6 found in Tib, Sonata, Santa Fe
Theta = I don't know ... hehe

Chasis Codes

X3 = 95-99 Accents
LC = 2000-2002 Accents
GK = 2003 Tibs

Can't remember the rest, but I have it writen down somewhere at home. smile.gif
