I did get it somewhat fixed just forgot to post an update. I ended up using the royal purple but the store that sells the wix filters was closed, I payed out the tail for a K&N but the ticking stopped.

Just use the OEM filter next time. Unlike what you may think from experience with other brands, hyundai parts tend to be AT LEAST as good as aftermarket, and their oil filters are reasonably priced.

I have a ticking as well that goes away after the motor gets up to operating temp. I use OEM Hyundai filters (normally just go in and buy like 4 or 5 at a time) and this year switched to just using regular Castrol GTX 5w30. Now that it is summer I'll probably do 10w30. I also change my oil every 4 or 5 thousand miles, but I check it every week or so and closely monitor the quality. No need to dump money down the drain and change oil before it is needed.

I had to buy it on a sunday (Dealership was closed) but I'm gonna go OEM the next time around.
