Default NEED 200 HP...HELP!

Hey I was just wondering if any of you could tell me the most inexpensive way that I could get my stock (140HP) Tibby to run at around 190 or 200 Horses. I was considering possibly a Weapon-R intake, and a K&N air filter as a start, but I am totally new to engine mods so I need some serious help with this one. Thanks Guys

Well, the weapon R short ram intake is not going to get you anywhere near 200 HP. Your best bet is to start with the basics, like a CAI (cold air intake), exhaust, headers, Big bore throttle body, bored intake manifold, and that should get you alot closer to the 200 mark. To fully get there or even beyond that mark, get a small shot of nitrous. Small shot I mean 55. Anything higher than a 55, than you will have to upgrade your fuel system. Good luck! wink.gif

Thanks alot man. But about the nitrous; Who makes a small shot kit compatible with the 2001 Tib and how much would a decent NOS system cost? Thanks

Zex does, 55 shot. Easy to install and reliable, cant go wrong with zex. Should be $480 for the kit plus get the purge.

To get to 200 HP you will need Nitrous or a turbo or supercharger.

You've got a HP goal, (200), but what is your budget?

Once we know how much $$$ you have to spend, we can start to reccomend a path to get there.

Without Nitrous, you are looking at a Turbo or a Supercharger.

The Alpine kit is by no means complete, but for $2500, consider it a "starter" kit.

The Balastics Racing kit (UFB) is closer to $4000, but is a more complete if not 100% completle kit.

Since you are into autocrossing, you might want to consider a LSD and stronger axles. The stockers should put up with 200 HP, but if you go much over that, plan on getting upgraded axles (abotu $500 a set), and $1000 for the LSD.

So grand total of all the above, not counting install costs, you're looking at $5500 to $6000.

I think you can get the Ballistic turbo kit from Hyundai Performance.com. The LSD is a Limited Slip Differential. It helps your wheels from slipping and gives you more traction. There's more to it, but that's a real basic explanation. wink.gif

Thanks alot guys for such quick input! That Zex kit sounds mighty tempting for only 400 some bucks! I currently have about a grand to work with, so im trying to get the most horsepower for the buck considering ALL of this money is going toward strictly performance. Any other opinions or inputs are greatly appreciated. Thanks alot guys
