Engine hiccup?
I've got the Random special CAI, I washed my car yesterday at the carwash and the same thing happened to me as soon as I left. I was doing my best to be carefull about getting the filter wet but, apparently not carefull enough. The "hiccup" only happened like 4-5 times, what kind of damage is done if the intake sucks some water??
Thats the only thing I could think of that couldve happened. eek!

If your engine ingests water it will do what is called "hydro lock" itself. This is terminal. You see, water doesn't compress like air does and isn't combustible. So when water passes into the combustion chamber and the cylider is in its compression stage, the water will keep it from compressing resulting in a lot of havoc. So even if your filter is wet it's not going to injest water. Your filter will have to be submerged for that to happen! Thats where the "air by-pass filter" or it's variants come in. This sits closer to the TB (before the MAF sensor though) and opens up only when air can no longer enter through the normal intake filter. Think of it like a valve opening when the main area of entry is sealed (like submerging in water). smile.gif

i would suspect the plug wires. this happened to me. i would drive, and all of a sudden, there would be a little hiccup, just like the brake had been very briefly tapped. then, i was driving it and it just started doing it constantly. i was only running on two cylinders. two of my plug wires went. it sounded like a v-twin harley as i limped to autozone.

I'm leaning towards ignition (or TPS...I find it hard to believe that a TPS sensor would just go out intermittenly like this).
Check your coil packs and Plug wires.
If you can, pull each plug, make sure that each is roughly the same color/texture. If one or more plugs look different from the others, note which plugs look different.

The only reason I thought the intake sucked water was because this was the only time the car ever did anything like this (right after I washed the car w/ a pressure washer). It hasnt happened since, is there anything else that would cause this to happen if were to get wet? (keep in mind I did not spray under the hood, only the body)

If your MAF get's wet, that would cause it. If water made it past the filter, to the MAF, the MAF air flow reading would go all screwy.
Once the MAF dried off (just a matter of seconds) your car returned to normal.

dude, pick up a pair of plug wires from autozone. they're like $35. get some plugs, $6-$10. i think you might even be able to return the wires
if they don't solve your problem. just say that they were the wrong wires, or conconct some story about aliens fixing your problem, and you don't need them anymore. wink
