Default Car won't start

Get in, I'm ready to wash my car.
It's 37 degrees outside and change my mind.
I was going to drive my car to the garage.
For a later washing.

Key goes in, i hear clicks but the engine doesn't turn over.
It's done this before but I just thought it was too cold.

Battery should be good and the radio works.

please help!

Ok, I used cables to charge the car back up.
It starts.
Then I shut my car off to put the jumper cables into the back of the trunk. (my trunk won't open with the trunk release opener)
When I shut the power off the car won't start again.

I thought it was because I didn't run the car around to let the battery recharge.
So I jumped my car again and rode around in it.
After about 5 minutes of driving i head back home and decide to test the car by just taking out the key.
The car is still rolling and I put the key back in and try to start the car. It won't.

I thought it was the battery but doesn't the battery recharge? I just had the battery put in two months ago.

Please help.

Andres

It could be the load on your battery is too great (doubtful)
-or-
Your altenator is toast and needs to be replaced
(probable)

Hes right.

Or your battery is dead dead.

But 5 mins just does not seem enough to charge it.

there are two types of battery drain.

"lights dim, the car does not start"

and "you hear a click click click click"

the click click click is a pretty damn drained battery.

getting over to a shop and have them check it out.

i was watching one of those car shows recently on TV where they said that if you have to recharge a dead battery, you should use a battery charger. they said that driving the car around and using the alternator to recharge the battery is really hard on the alternator and can burn it out.
