Has anyone broken the 150MPH with their mods, also if I get my ride up to 200HP what would my speedo read?

hmmm.....that brings up a question.....even with mods in place and sh*t....the speed limiter would still be the same speed, yes?? You'd just get there faster??

Your engine redline is still the same.
Unless you strengthen your bottom end, stiffer valve springs, connecting rods etc. you may not want to push your revs to much higher. There may be a rev limiter as well.
You could up your hp and then add taller tires to gain speed. Or (I don't know if its possible) change the gear ratio in the trans. Ask Random about that last part he might know.
Might be a nice idea, Tib revs high on highway.

The redline on the Beta 2.0L motor is ~6500RPM.

More horsepower will NOT change this in any way, shape or form. Your speedometer will not *physically* change with more horsepower, nor will the top speed increase due to the speed delimiter CPS mentioned.

However, you could buy a programmable ECU and remove all the limiters, but still you wouldn't hit 150MPH due to your gearing. If you'd really like to know, you can sit down and do the math to figure out how fast the car will go in 5th gear. Somebody on Fxtreme has done it before, you could do a search there and try to find it.

It was proven numerous times and there was a HUGE argument over why a Tiburon couldn't hit 150MPH. Feel free to do a search for it.

But yes, you are on the right track about being able to change your gearing, but you would suffer in acceleration. And how many times are you really gonna drive 150MPH?

Don't tell anyone but my '75 Camaro will do 140! Total adrenaline run!
I need a 6-speed from a new one. Supposed to hit 180! Read it in a mag. Guy had a trans-am 403 ci.

Forgot to mention...I never use 5th gear when racing. Unless it is for a long distance in which case acceleration means nothing. BUT I do understand your point. The only reason you would want your car to go that fast is to out run the police.
It doesn't work I have tried on a very capable machine. sad.gif

With a cold-air induction system and K&N air filter on a 1999 with 4,500 miles on it I was able to hit a top speed of 132mph behind a semi (and probably downhill with a tailwind) on I-80 West across Iowa. I left Chicago at 11:00pm and was in Kansas City on I-35 at 4:00...this included a meal stop for lunch. Nowadays I can barely get 120mph (maybe 125) going between Madison & Milwaukee.

Red cars really do go faster smile.gif

Jerimiah, you mean to tell me there was a semi in front of you also doing 132? Is this possible? :-)

You left Chicago at 11:00 at night and did'nt get to KC until 4pm the next day because of lunch?? Was it a buffet? and was it good?

Was the semi made by Lingenfelter? All semis are governed at around 85mph...even if it wasn't, it's impossible due to drag. Nice try though.
