I didn't want to scare everyone off with my comments on the CF Hatch. Also, if you want it for race or show, I'm sure its not too much harder to swap than a CF hood. Anyway, let me help here a bit...

i say rivet it on, then use a router to etch a small crevice inbetween it and the cf. then seal that and stick some weatherstripping around it.

Didn't scare me man. I actually got an idea. Will keep the CF hatch with lexan for the most of the time and then once winter comes I will swap it for a OEM one. Just need to find a place to store my stock hatch...

Now in less complicated words with more explanation of each.... sorry 02.gif

I really like your idea importshark, having just a hood and a hatch in CF would look very nice, but I think I want to go all out smile.gif

Chris, IM me please.

ok,

where the glass/plastic/whatever meets with the carbon hatch. will it be flush mounted, or just layed over top and riveted? like, will the edge around the opening in the cf hatch for the plastic be slightly lower, so there is no height difference between the hatch and plastic?

if it is flush, then its easy. there should be a little space inbetween the plastic and carbon. throw some silicon sealant in there, then smash some weatherstripping in the gap. if the rivets are done far enough on the edge of the plastic, the weatherstripping would cover them up.

if it isnt flush mounted, i really wouldnt know what to do.

I talked to my bud and he said he might be able to CF the rest of the car for me (roof, doors, rear panels) then we'll clear coat it all and get into interior with his skills and CF smile.gif
