Help Me Decide On The Future Of My Car
I'm not paying $400-600 for a CF part that will be painted!!! I love the look of CF and I want to show it off.
Patric, my car is dark blue.
Thanks on the opinions guys.
Btw, can someone chop it all for me???

hi OP,
I have a couple of friends in ISRAEL, with tibs of your color.
Besides the fact that it's one of the best colors for a tib, it will look great with CF.
When bright colored cars are done in partial Carbon, it looks not as good as dark cars.
Since carbon is covered with a reflective-protective coat, it will look great from a distance , and once comming close to see your award winning tib, it will look even better.
Dont forget that when someone chops it for you, you loose the effect of the clear coat, and usually chopse look crappy next to the real thing!
As for the fenders, do get them in fiber BUT...
Get the wide fenders that are gonne be out soon (non-gilled, of course), and than paint only the inner piece on them (where the old fender used to end and the duct starts. by that you'll have a great combe with the doors! the OEM paint continues into the cowel of the fender and wont look like a two piece car:
look on Chris' car:

Another cool idea, to blend that awsome: metal VS carbon, is to put a final clear coat on top of the entire car, carbon and OEM, with some candy pigment in the clear coat. It will give the car the same overoll shine, with the carbon being clearly seen and all.
You'll need no more than one or two coats.
It will look superb, and wont be very expensive.
check out Summers 1st gen veilside tip. They did that "trick" on the hood, giving it a candy-red clear coat:

try looking for better quality pics...
Candy pigments are not expensive any more:

-------> they sell the best paints and stuff, IMO.
good luck!
BTW, i'm trying my own ideas and plans on you.
so..... Thank you!

Defiently all carbon fiber.
If I had never just bought my VIS cf hood. I would convert my front end to a RD-1 tib and order the evo hood, bumper, fenders and skirts.
I am still considering doing the swap just to get these pieces in CF. Hopefully Flyride will make a front bumper in CF for the rd2's smile.gif So i don't have to swap to a rd1

I say go for it..it looks really good if done right.

that is when it was just plain cf
and here is what it looks like after he did some painting over parts of it

I say go for all CF if you have the Cobalt Blue paint. That's what I am going to do once I get the money for it. It will look really good. I don't know about the hatch though. It looks good but like Chris said it's only for race or show. It's just not practical for a daily driver especially if you use your defrost.
Thanks on the good comments Sasha. Your car looks great btw!!! Hopefully I get some money to get lambo doors.
I don't think I like the idea of having paint on the gills and such. We'll see how it turns out though.
Thanks on a good word and suggestion Gary.
Redturbulence, thanks on a good word and the pix. The more I see those pix the more I want to get it on my car. It looks freaking amazing!!!
Gotspeed, thanks man. I'm also very concerned about the hatch now. Lexan is also easily scratchable.... not a good thing... I might ask my bud with CF to try to lay some CF on top of the stock hatch. We'll see what he can do.
