He should be fine. He'll be inside the car when he blips it. Just make sure no one is near it though, it shouldn't fly off or anything but it's better to be safe then sorry.

update!

so i let the battery charge for about an hour and i gave her another good blip, it worked! laugh.gif im happy lol, but it was too dark to complete the underdrive pulley install, ill finish it tomarrow, take pics, and do a full write up for a DIY including the bliping so nobody will have to describe it again, and so people will do it safely. cant wait to get it all done and test her out.

i finally completed the install after numerous problems lol.. the two biggest problems i had was the crank bolt not wanting to come off, and then i had a tuff time finding the right size a/c belt, after 4 trips to advance auto parts i got the right belt. every thing is tightened and the belts are tensioned up, i will do a test run tomarrow and report the results. im expecting good results considering the weight difference alone, the obx was inbetween 1/4lb and 1/2lb and the stock pully was about 4.5lbs, im working on the DIY right now. look for it tomarrow..

i will, im going to try to be as detailed as i can because i had to use the process of elimination method through most of this, do you want the whole belt number or just the size in inches?

You could put both the size of the belt and the number if you want. Glad you finished your project

QUOTE (Mad-Machine @ Feb 14 2005, 06:42 PM)
When I did mine, I did not have access to an air wrench so I used the "blip the engine" trick.. it is a matter of knowing which way your engine rotates when running (I forget at the moment from inside the wheel well) and using a good sturdy (preferably half inch) rachet or breaker bar with the proper socket on the crank nut, place a long extension or pipe over the handle of the rachet (or breaker bar). After making sure that the extension (or pipe) will not hit anything on the car (I prefer to rest it on the ground in the direction of engine travel, so that the spin will try and leverage against the ground) Then, with the wires off of the coils (or plugs, your choice) gently blip the starter so that at most, the engine moves a litte. It does not take a lot to break it loose and you do not want it coming off when the engine is spinning..

You know.. if you had scrolled back to the first response to your question (my post) you would have seen me describe the "blip the starter" trick. This is a bonafide fiat spider trick, we have been doing it for years as you have to replace the timing belt every 20,000 miles.
