Ok so I did everything explained here and then some. I can't find anything to help me take the tranny off of our 2000 Tibby. I comes out about an inch and ahalf but thats it. As I try and pull it off it pops right back. ANy help with this would be greatlt appreciated.

I read somewhere that you have to lift the clutch assembly that is bolted to the tranny and turn to get it off. Turn what? the tranny or the assembly? Am I doing this right? help please. mad.gif

 

IS it an auto or a stick?

Because if it is a stick you need to unbolt and remove the release arm

Also there is a bolt that keeps the metal flange onto the bell housing but isnt directly bolted onto the block so you will be able to move it a bit but not fully remove it.

Also with the crossmember removed you can lower the engine and it will give the tranny more clearance if thats your problem.

There also pins that support the weight of the tranny when there are no bolts in, you need to pull the tranny off of those before it will come out.

Try that stuff and see where you stand.

 

Can you post a pic of what you are telling? The release arm is the part that one of the cables hooks into right? The part on top back side of the tranny right? Sorry for the basic questions but I am new to the Hyundai engine and tranny department.
