TeamSr or Injen Intake?
Thanks again Random, if it wasn't for you, I would have ended like a ricer, buying the expensive sh!t instead of the real McKoy.
It seams I had it worng, I thaught the Injen CAI with the characteristics you mention was a previous version.

i'm skeptical of the Injen CAI version that random has a pic of...but for the price i'm getting, even if it is so short, it's still better than the stock POS. But i'll see for myself when it comes in and let yall know. Considering the retail price they think its worth, i just cant buy it that its a POS or a bad design...
but if it is, or if it isnt, either way i'll let ya know. it should be in at the end of this week, and installed next week after WIC. wink

I'm confused here...looking at the engine bay of my car, underneath the battery is open space once the resonator for the factory intake is removed, and it's rather cool there compared to the rest of the engine compartment.
My radiator is a few inches away from this area, and it seems that there would be a decent flow of air into the area (under the battery tray), plus you don't have to cut the plastic to install it (which is a relatively minor inconvenience for the gains you get).

right it may look like that but you also have to understand any intake that leaves the filter exposed to the engine bay without a heat shield with get a significant amount of hot air in the intake which of course we know is bad. technically if your driving down the highway at 70 MPH you might get some nice air but it would be better to have it in the bumper.

haha.. well.. that's alot of responcec since this morning, and thanks for all your info, if the performancee is about the same, ,and the price is cheaper, i'll probasbly go with the teamsr intake then smile.gif
I'll wait for the showdown to see whose intake has the best gains.
I know that in some cars and trucks, a short ram (even with heat soak) can produce more hp and torque than a true cold air intake (ask AEM who dyno tests all of their designs).
I can't wait to see the SR intake though...sounds like it's going to be damned good, especially for the price.

Ried is right, in that on a dyno, a "short ram" intake can show higher gains than a "true" CAI. The short tube intake flows more air faster than a long tube intake of the same diameter. However, in the CAI dyno showdown, we will also be recording the Intake Air Tempature before the run, durring the run, and after the run. This should enable us to show which intake sucks in the coldest air, in addition to which one makes the most HP. If there are 2 that are close, one a short ram, and one a "true" CAI, the "true" CAI should show better gains in the "real" world of driving around with a hot engine bay. (vs. on a dyno with the hood open and a fan blowing on it.)
