VTEC IS NOT THE SAME AS CVVT

Actually, that should say CVVT is NOT the same as VTEC.

Vtec is for tuned for the extra "power", CVVT is tuned for the gas mileage

dont forget emissions smile.gif

eh, force of habit in spelling tech.

CVVT could be used to up the power, but instead, hyundai used it for better emissions on low end. it only affects the intake cam. i dont know specifically how, but it does.

most vtec systems work on both the exhaust and intake cams. one of the vtecs works on the intake cam, making a difference in the amount of distance the valve travels, this allows more air to enter through one valve, creating a swirling affect. mixes the fuel with air better, for a more even burn. its like vtec-e or something. dont know if hyundai's cvvt works like that, or just has lobes that engage evenly at different rpms.

hmm i have my vtec... when that thing kicks in at 5k rpms... its like a lil turbo.. it takes off. muhahahahah

sorry about your loss of low end torque which helps you off the line you have to sacrifice because of it wink1.gif

Dont apologize since there is no loss. if it was fixed cam then i would have the loss of low end torque. thats why theres vtec... i dont lose any low end torque because of it.. i just didnt have it to begin with.
and i could care less when im racing the rpms stay above 5k the whole time, except on the launch.
