stupid clutch
Bryce, my advice is to go to a junk yard and pull a tranny out. I got a tranny for like $68. No sense in scrapping a car whenever there's a little bump in the road (figurativly speaking lol).
most of my driving is either highway or spirited backroads.. very little jackrabbit style starts or even smoking the wheels.. there is a reason I go through rear tyres and brakes faster than fronts..
No. I do it for everyone of the customers who come by as this is very often overlooked in the PDI. Any and every vehicle with MT which comes through our dealership has had this done, every servicing, without fail. Gotta take care of the boys and girls. My own car, needs doing every 2 months or so.
Reminds me I have to look at mine... knowing Hyundai dealers, some probably don't do this. I would definitely recommend to everyone to take out their manual and check the free-play and adjust it if necessary. Really easy to do and very much so worth it. I believe the play recommended is between 6 and 13mm... not sure though.
nah im not gunna scrap it, my moms gunna loan me the money to get it fixed. which is gunna be $1500 for a tranny with 30k on it, 1 year warrenty, and to have it installed with the new parts. i found a tranny for 75 dollars, but i don't have the time to take it out of the junkard and put in in mine. school and such.
yeah the funny thing is that what i like doing to. i don't like drag racing to much, only have done it 4 or 5 times agianst people i know,(beat them all)

i went to the hmaservice website and I think it said that the clutch should release at about 3 inches from the floor. If that is so, then I think my clutch is fine. I looked at the adjustment procedure there, but I am still unsure of how to do it. I guess I will take it by a shop and have them show me. Oh, and my car didn't come with an owners manual because I bought it used and it was missing. Knowing how to drive has nothing to do with knowing how to maintain the car. That is why some people are mechanics and some people are drivers.
I looked it up. When your car is off, press down on the clutch until you feel resistance. It should move about 8-13mm from the top resting position to wear you meet resistance. If not, your clutch needs adjusting.
If your just a mechanic, you know how to drive a car. If your just a driver, you can't maintain things. I'd rather be a mechanic. tongue.gif

I bet an employee at that junkyard would be happy to remove it for $50. You might also search for car clubs or forums for your area, there's usually a lot of DIY types to be found who would do it on the cheap.
Even if that tranny professionally installed has a 1 year warranty, you'd still have to pay labor to get it fixed.
