how many of you have atleast one aftermarket pulley? if you do thats whats causing it. especialy once you hit colder weather. the only thing you can do it tighten the belts up as much as possible and ride it out till warmer weather hits.

awwww dude, i sooooooooooooooooooo know that, i remember i turned on my A/C on and shit i thought the engine was gonna blow up, it took like 1 minue for me for it to be quiet, umm, but the problem DEFINATLY DEFINATLY FOR SURE, is that ur belt is too loose, i got a new one and like after 4 weeks of living with that godawful squeek, i tightened it a whole bunch and its been perfect ever since.

the belt is new, only about 15,000 miles old. I've tightened it as much as I physically can with my arm strength... is it a good idea to use an air compressor to torque it down more?

oh, and no aftermarket pulley, and the dealership replaced the A/C belt and put it on.

had the same problem this winter at the begining...sounds like a super charger kickin in.

Go to any automotive store and they have a spray for belts to get a bit of moisture into them. Spray that on them and you'll be fine. So far drove 2 months an no squeal. If you guys want ill take a snap shot of what the bottle looks like.

Let me know tongue.gif

I have the Unorthodox Underdrive crank pulley on mine... and even in the vrief cold snap we had in decemeber (got down to around 10 degrees here) I did not have any belts squealing. It is all a matter of getting the belt exactly the right tension. To help, hyundai installed a very nice mechanical adustment feature on our cars, just have to loosen the lock nut and tighten, then lock the retaining nut back down.

I have the same problem. Can someone post a DIY for tightening / changing a belt? I have never done it, and it is supposed to be a high of about 10 degrees this weekend and you know what that means.....SQUEEEEEEEEL.
