That sounds like a throw out bearing issue, honnestly. My 90 ford probe did that till I changed the TOB then it was quiet as a the grass growing...

If it makes the sound while you are sitting still and in neutral the noise can't be the tranny itself since none of the internal parts are spinning, only the input shaft is spinning while in neutral, like said above it sounds like your throwout bearing is making noise, when the bearing starts to go bad they become loose and when in neutral with no pressure on it they slop around and make noise but as soon as you apply pressure by pressing the clutch they shut up. It could be the bearing is binding on the shaft and cocking to one side causing it to make noise, this seems to be quite a common problem with the hyundai trannys, I grease mine up up good before I put the tranny back in.

i keep hearing the sound but nothing has been affected as far as drivability or anything, so i guess i will just leave it alone til it causes problems..

i am running the 6-puc ACT street disc (sprung hub) and the HD pressure plate. with a gripforce chromoly flywheel.. i hear the noise sometimes and sometimes dont, and its only when i let the clutch out.. o well.. hope nothing happens.

thats the throw out bearing. that happened to my Scoupe Turbo with a brand new TOB. it sounds like something is grinding, you press the clutch and it gets quiet. hope it helps.
