Yeah, i searched and I read about a bunch of guys chirping the starter, i dont like that, it doesnt seem right to me. Im in canada, things here rust like crazy, my lower pulleys look bad, if it happens to be seized and it shifts the car (She is up on 4 jack stands right now) and it falls off the jack stands, that would be bad. ive been wiating to buy an impact gun, maybe this is a sign that its time.
well, you do not have to lay your breaker bar against the ground when you "chirp" the starter. You can arrange it so it is JUST against the underside of the car with a block of wood between it and the metal. This way if it does not work, it cannot rock the car.
and trust me, this does work. I first brought this to the attention of RD Tiburon from the Fiat Community, it is how we change our timing belts... every 20,000 miles.

I went out yesterday morning and bought a 1/2" drive impact gun, ran airline out to the garage, took a run at the bolt and nothing, a whole lot of vibrating and that cool airgun noise, but the bolt remained. My old man came out to the garage to stare at it with me and we got to trying things. I got under the car and wedges my pry bar against the flywheel, and then he broke the nut loose with the breaker bar, it came off easy, on my end anyway. It went back together the same way. I thought that it might be to much stress for the flywheel but then it occured to me that I was working with the same part of the flywheel that the starter would be spinning on anyway. Anyway, it worked, im done and doing a whole ton of reassembly now.
