One more stupid topic and I'm going to leave.
Excuse me ... there is one fact here that escapes me. Just what exactly is 'rice' ... and who appointed Cheuk, Red, or anyone for that matter, the high exhulted one to determine just what 'rice' is? I don't give a god damn how smart someone thinks they are, it still doesn't give them free reign to judge a person or their car and what may be installed on it.
Someone installed a Zet or an E-ram on their car, so fukkin what. If you don't like it, don't read the damn post and most of all don't reply to it. For someone to announce that they are taking their toys and going home just cuz they don't like the mods on a car that does not belong to them, speaks highly of their maturity.
Grow the hell up kids. People have a right to mod their car with whatever the hell they want to. BTW, I am not denying anyone to have the right to have their opinion either. If you can't be constructive and mature about your opinion, keep your trap shut.
JUDGE NOT LEST YE BE JUDGED YOURSELF
I have wiper lights on my car, so I guess I am 'rice'. You have a turbo .. you have N2O .. you have a body kit .. you have altezzas .. a CAI .. wheels .. neon. Whatever it may be, that makes you just as 'rice' as I am.
To those that want to leave ... let me get you a carpet square, and a glass of milk with some cookies ... you need a nap. Don't let the door hit ya in the ass on the way out.
FYI .. I have been hanging around FocalJet for some time now. They do their best not allow the term 'rice' be used on their board. Their goal is to display a level of professionalism for the manufacturer reps that are always present there, and they damn sure are successful at it.

If I see another e-Ram, turbo jet, air pump, leaf blower, four hamster running in a exercise wheel.... compressor idea for a turbo / supercharger posted on this PERFORMANCE modification section .... I'm leaving.
I HATE RICERS. The Hyundai group was a little different because we knew our cars were slow to begin with but we wanted to make the tibby / accent / avante / elantra / scoupe faster to ambush the RICER HONDAS. If this forum turns in a Hyundai RICER board, I'm gone.
Sorry but I'm starting to notice a trend.
BTW, I will be in LA and Las Vegas next week trying to meet all the performance manufacturers that I order from.
make sure to let us know where ya go.... wink

Look, Cheuk (and you too, Red)...you provide some of the best knowledge around these boards, and you definitely know what you're talking about. I've appreciated the info these last couple years (Red, even before that), but [one of the beliefs I live by]...if you're going to complain about a problem, don't open your mouth until you have a solution.
(insert dead horse)
The reason a lot of these newbies show up is because they're looking for support, and they know they'll get toasted over at the Japanese boards. We don't all have "God's Guide to Engines" anchored in our brains, and for the most part, we aren't deep into racing the way some are. Most here are enthusiasts, and like me, have learned a lot by reading and by asking "dumb" questions; I just know not to ask anymore, and instead get off my butt and research it myself.
You want to stop all the "rice" questions and posts??? Then sit down and compose a FAQ section that'll shut everyone up; ask to link some articles on the forum home page that'll explain basic engine theory and modification, or, like Random does every once in a while, suggest some recommended reading.
In the mind of a knowledgeable racer, there are some prerequisites you think we should all have before posting...tell everyone what they are, and the volume of ignorant questions will decrease significantly.
My two cents...gimme my change!
BTW, Cheuk, don't leave... some of us who don't post a lot in the engine forum actually benefit greatly from the information provided by you and the other guru's.

Digital, hush.
Bring back the flames, and give us a nazi mod or two and we'll be all set.
Email me too. *Is* there a properly moderated Hyundai board anywhere?

Perhaps we need a rice forum seperate from the engine forum. wink
I hope everybody chills a little. I may not be a "technical" memeber, but I like to learn with the posts of Random, Red, Cheuk, Jaws (I never remember if it's Jaws021, or just Jaws) an other experienced members. Though, I noticed too something isn't right because I get to the forums twice or more a day, and it's been like two months or more that I get in read the titles and leave without reading anything.Perhaps we need a rice forum seperate from the engine forum. wink
Honestly, it would be a shame to loose something like TeamSR. It wouldn't be a bad idea at all to have a forum like: "Idiot questions need answer" or "Newbie likes to know" or somethint like that and leave the engine forum for the "more serious" questions.
Look,
Just like Red, the stupid questions are starting to beat me down... even when the topic is something else... someone brings up the turbo zet or similar things. It use to be maybe once in a month I would have to dodge the post or argue... now it is almost every day.
When it ceases to be a performance board, I will just stop coming to the board.... because it will cease to interest me.
Just pointing out a trend. I don't know if there is a way to fix it. I have been on other boards and they eventually get corrupted and I move onto better boards. I'm glad that others have noticed.

The big difference is the age perspective, import tuners or owners tend to be younger less experienced car enthusists. The import or compact revolution is similar to the muscle car revolution. Your parents could go buy a big block 1967 chevelle for 3200.00, well young kids can not afford to buy that same 1967 chevelle today. They settle for more fuel efficent and cost effective transportation. There are certain car groups that are more experienced like Grand National and muscle car owners for an example, there ownership age is some what higher do to the cost and age of the vehicle.
I grew up with muscle cars and racing, and at first I was not use to the somewhat over all inexperience of the import world. Over time the compact owners will learn just like there parents did about muscle car performance. I feel the vast majority of import owners did not grow up in a car family or have a lot of exposure to engines, to where everyown ate, slept, breathed and worshiped the automobile. The import generation is what the early 50's car generation was like, they were new to the world of automobiles going fast and looking good. At that time there were more car gimicks on the marketthen, than there are today, what limits them today is educated byers and laws, though there are still those people that buy off of infomercials believeing what they see it do it can.
Alot of the "dumb question" could be eliminated by common sense. If a product seems to good to be true it is. Before writing a question do some research on the products and find out the principle of operations.

It sounds like you want all the advanced auto people in one group and the new, not so advanced auto people in another. I have said this before, people come here looking for answers to questions they have about autos. That includes all the posts you seem to think are stupid but the person asking really wants to know the truth about.
It's all most like you want people to ask questions that only you'd like to see asked or you personally would like to chat about. If it doesn't fit in to that category you'll get upset and leave. Come on that's not gonna happen and the questions you feel are pointless are all ways going to be asked because the person asking doesn't know the answer.
I personally asked about the Smartplugs because I wanted to know what expirenced knowledgable automotive guys thought about the idea. I got my answers and better understand how a engine works because of asking about Smartplugs. That's just a example but these questions are all ways going to be asked when a person doesn't know the answers.
I thank everyone that responds and answers the questions about new products. I read all the posts and the info I get from responses will end up saving me and other members alot of money and disappointment in the future. Plus sometimes you get lucky and someone has actually bought or is using what you have asked about. The information from that person is great because then you know for sure what's being said is probably pretty close to the truth.

Besides, I thought I did a pretty good job over at FXtreme.
