One more stupid topic and I'm going to leave.

Um Ok, sure. People don't always have the luxury of knowledge right at their fingertips, so that is why they ask.If I see another e-Ram, turbo jet, air pump, leaf blower, four hamster running in a exercise wheel.... compressor idea for a turbo / supercharger posted on this PERFORMANCE modification section .... I'm leaving.
Ricer-A person of non-intelligence buying over the counter universal items (LED washers, blue lights, neons, at the MOST a cone filter) and having someone apply them to a vehicle (largely hondas) for them. A non-ricer is intuitive and creative, and doesen't necessarily know the CFM of a smog pump so therefore asks. Newbies can't be expected to know all.
Personally, I know people that started out rice and that got them hooked and now they know LOTS of **** about cars, inside and out. Those who did not evolve can be seen driving with "Performace" lights...
Hoo hah, the Empire of Rice strikes back
Aight if there's somthing we oughta know this is it: There are TONS of ppl out there making major dolla outta either other ppl's ignorance or outta their sheer stupidity. Although there may be those well-versed in performance modification or repair, sometimes the Rice does corrupt the minds of those not as well-informed. The salespersons who are employed to push these items will provide everything from patent claims, tested subjects and even fluid dynamic studies to back their claims up, even if these claims are only either circumstantial "evidence" or entirely fabricated. Therefore it is not logical to blame a person if he/she is taken in by the salesperson's hype. The salesperson is of course able to do his/her job effectively, or will not be considered a salesperson to begin with. In the end, it is the vehicle owner who must make the final call, and it is often the well-informed who call the bluff of the salesperson.
Wether the owner chooses to accept that he/she has been duped or otherwise, Red and Cheuk, the both of you have done more than an admirable job of keeping the masses here informed of current events and calling the bluff of many ppl who would have very well made a killing off of out those less experienced here.
The moral of the story; without the 2 of you lots of ppl here would have wasted a lot of their hard-earned $$$ on nothing but hot air and hype. Just because there are those who would buy the hype, and would speak for the salespersons also involved, then let it be so. This is the Internet, ppl can say whatever they want, be whoever they want or push whatever bullsh!t they want. In the end, the actual facts of the matter will be made very clear.
For every person who has been bought by the hype, think of the others whose $$$ you have helped save.
Red, Cheuk, if you decide to leave then that is your choice. But please bear in mind, without your input this board will be all the poorer, and Hyundai tuners will somewhat become akin to the redneck, who beleives in whatever another redneck tells him.
The Rice is strong, but we can beat it.

I agree that rice is starting to emanate around this board but I am disagreeing on the way you're handling it. Much like someone who insists they are right on one thing and then not listening to another's point. What I like about TSR is that we are really open minded about other's styles. Rice is NOT only Honda-specific, it goes to every car manufacturer out there including Hyundai. I've seen way more rice on Hyundai cars from Korea than ricey cars down here in Hawaii. I could name countless instances such as having the Veilside logo on a kit that is not even close to a Veilside kit; a Mitsu logo on an Elantra(I don't care if it have a 4G63 or not, its still a Hyundai), just to name a few. I don't care if others are ricey about their cars. If they like that and know what they want, the more power to them. In the real world, not everyone is a mechanic and therefore thats why we have forums. Its easy to get mad at another person than be understanding and tolerant, but you're never going to get that far in life like that.
Personally I think that is a childish way to look at things, "one more stupid question and I'm gonna leave" like kids on a playground. Personally I don't care, just my 2 cents. I thought this board was to get information, not for everyone to know it all.
Just don't answer the question. And if you see a trend, then just leave...but let me be the first to tell you that YOU aren't the only one who has noticed a trend of lameness and stupidity on this board. rolleyes.gif

You know what, now that I think about it this is a stupid post. It's kind of like either I get my way and my way only or I'm leaving.
Personally I come here looking for answers and knowledge. Most of the time when people ask questions it's because they are looking for the samething. Not everyone is going to be as knowledgable about autos as say Random or Red. (I'm leaving alot of people out here and I appologize for that.) This is a place to ask questions and even if a question may be common sense to you it's not to all people here.
New people will all ways ask basic questions. That's how we learn and if we can't go to a place we know has intelligent people to ask that question we'll never know what works and what doesn't.
Also another thing which happens alot is people find new products no one has heard about yet, and asks about them. Are you saying we shouldn't ask about anything new, never try new things even if they might work or just waste our money on it without asking someone that might have a good idea if it will work? If that was the case half the members here would leave.
I really like this forum because you can ask questions (normally) and get answers to them.

Guys, everyone has the right to make a choice. Without Red and Cheuk, the boards ARE going to be all the poorer; they among the few who can fire back with proven information and if need be, cold hard data when someone or a company comes here touting"the latest in performance hardware/software, and when it happens to be crack they spot it pretty damn quick. Thing is, everyone here brings somthing to the table, no matter what the measure. Red and Cheuk have contributed incredibly to the collective knowledge of this board, so if they go, we're all gonna be left with questions with no real answers.
Keep it real guys, and know that these forums aren't called " Team Shark Racing for a reason.
