Hey all-

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience about Dual Throttle Bodies. RPW has a unit for the 2001 Elantra that's cruise compatable! All you need is an SAFC.
It works a lot like VW's system where only one TB opens under half throttle to maintain smoothness and control and at more than half throttle, you get the benifit of two TB's.
I'm basically sold on the idea, but I'm waiting for someone to talk me out of it.

 

How much is it? Is it going to be an easy install? What gains are we talking about? For a small gain I would not bother. Besides, you'll need about $300 on S-AFC. Plus on tuning. Plus instalation. The whole setup would probably cost $1000 or so. For a gain of less than 10-15HP, I would not bother.
On the other hand, S-afc might be useful in the long run. But not for me, in the long run, I am planning to run a stand-alone engine management.

I remember you posting about going turbo in the future. I plan to stay NA.
I was going to get a BTB/BIM. I don't know the price for the DTB yet. I put in a request to SR to find out since they are distributors. RPW says they start at 1000 AUS. Thats roughly 550 USD. I was going to get the SAFC anyways so I figured it would be better then the BTB/BIM.

 

The only downside I see to it would be getting the engine mangement system to like the dual TB's.

If this system is two TB's mounted in place of the single stock TB, I would NOT reccomend this. The gains are not that signifcant, and you would be better off and cheaper to go with a Single Bored TB.

If this system is a TB at either end of the Intake manifold, that would be an ideal solution, however, you would have to do a fair bit of customizing of the IM to mount a TB on the "dead" end, and you would also have fun trying to work the throttle linkages to operate two TB's at once that are opposite sides of the engine.

I don't really know what the unit looks like. However, I didn't anticipate any throttle linkage problems since it was cruise compatable.
The website says it includes an intake manifold. I'll email RPW for a pict.

What do you think the gains will be?

No, I only have one BTB. This is a car off of capa.com.au. I am not sure whos it is, all I know is its in Austrailia.

Well, I'm kinda glad it's not your car because I would be extreamly jealous. However, thanks a lot for the pict. It seams to be the "Ideal" set up that random described. Damn pretty too. I think I'm gonna go for it.

Now I have to rethink the whole car again. . .
