Sorry if I confused you mate... I may not be explaining myself properly.

The lack of the gasket for the backup lamp switch (which screws in at the top of the tranny) was causing it to go too far into the transaxle when fully tightened. I believe that it was interfering with the 5th/reverse shift lug, causing my inability to shift into 5th gear fing02.gif

So... Nothing to do with the cables.

OR are you talking about the speedo sensor?

The back light is by the tranny mount.. the speedo sensor is near the differential..

Then again.. i might need some sleep.. im still on medication

^ Yes... Right in front of the tranny mount.

It may not be the 5th/reverse shift lug I'm talking about (I was just going off the dodgy webtech illustrations)... Whatever is underneath the switch.

that actually makes sense. As the switch would need to be touched by one of the internal linkages to work. If it was too far in, it would foul the linkage and prevent it from moving all the way.

I am more surprised it was fifth you lost and not reverse. How did the switch look when you pulled it out reinstall the gasket?

^ 5th & reverse use the same lug but why reverse still worked & not 5th beats me.

The switch (the new one) was slightly scraped at the end of it when I removed it to re-install the gasket... Not the ball/switch part at the very end but around the edge, at the end of the threaded part. No biggie I hope.

Anyway, all is well that ends well fing02.gif
