Huge Problem! (i Hope Not Anyways)
OK, my car has been running strange since yesterday. It has made a weird noise. my car almost sounded like a diesel truck. I found out my car was alomst completely out of OIL!!!!. i put oil in it today and it is still making a wierd noise. not as loud as it was but it is making a constant clicking noise from the engine, and the faster i go the faster the clicking gets. does anyone know what this mean???? my brother said he thinks my engine is shot and might need to be rebuilt. could someone please help me and tell me what is wrong. thanks a lot guys.
ugh what is wrong with you
give me your car ill make sure it never runs out of oil drillsergeant.gif
anyways is it like a knock or a tic
if its a tick its probably the HLAs that were drained of oil

^ Yeah, the ticking should go away after the oil gets through it all.
How did you just "find out it was almost completely out of oil"? lol
You should check/top up regularly if need be... Are you leaking oil or do you just never service your car?

Ok i have done a lot of driving and i was due for an oil change but i did find out i was leaking oil that is what happened. so you dont think any real damage has been done to my engine? i hope not. thanks a lot and if you have any more suggestions please let me know. thanks and its a ticking noise not a knock
Dmitry's right (as always). You need to find out why you were losing oil. The ticking sound is most likely your HLA's. I'd let your car sit in the driveway and run for a little while, at least let it warm up to temperature. Don't do any hard driving, take it easy for a while, maybe they'll rebuild themselves with the oil you put in.
What type of oil are you using? If you don't know, where do you go to have your oil changed? How long has it been since your last oil change (how many miles)? Have you noticed any oil streaks or leaking in your driveway or wherever you usually park? We need to figure out if your car is burning up oil or if it was leaking for some reason. Have you noticed it leaking since you changed it? Check your fluid levels (ATF, oil, power steering, washer fluid, turn signal fluid) everytime you get gas, that's a good habit to get into.

Yeah... Don't forget to check your muffler belt too fing02.gif
I checked my muffler belt already, but I haven't checked my turn signal fluid since I got the car. OY! I bet my turn signal is completely torn up by now. I'll have to check them tonight.
Let the car run for a while to get the oil all around and be easy on it for a while like everyone else said. You might have gotten lucky. Especially since your engine never seized up.

If your car burns oil, then there is something going on wrong with it... if you were almost completely out of oil, then something is definately wrong with it. Mileage?
The ticking is your HLAs most likely, but your problems run deeper than that.
