Hey!
A few days ago I was messing around in the engine bay as I had to replace the reverse/backup lights switch in the tranny. For that I needed to remove the battery & tray.
While I was at it I also decided to remove my CAI, TB & IM to do some general maintenance since I had some spare time on my hands.
Anyway, everything was put back together & seemed to be fine but I've been unwell for the last couple of days & stayed home, not really driving any further than the train station up the road to drop the missus off.
This morning I realised I cannot get the car into fifth gear... Regardless of how hard I try. Other than the reverse switch, I didn't touch the gearbox so I'm stumped.
What could be causing this?

I haven't tried to force it but you know how sometimes a gear is just stubborn? Well this feels like there's no fifth gear at all.
Any ideas as to what I should be checking?

Problem solved.
It was the gasket for the backup lights switch... It came off with the old switch & I didn't see it; without the gasket the new switch was in about 1mm too far which was causing it to foul the 5th/reverse shift lug.
I'm so stoopid.
