I ran the dis2 because it's my understanding the dis4 can't be controlled by the stock ECU. You need to run a stand alone ECU.

Do you think a dual tach adapter will work? Its my understanding from reading the old posts that this will work. But according to Jon I don't need this.

Jon I know the violet and yellow wires are grounded but what about the brown/violet and brown/yellow wires? That's the only two wires I did nothing with.

The tach adapter is to make the tach work on cars that use the coil signal to run the tach. If your tach works, you don't need a tach adapter.

MSD says the tach adapter is for misfiring or non run situations. Doesn't say anything about for when the tach doesn't work.

From MSD's website:

"If, after installing an MSD Ignition Control, your taÂ*chometer, fuel pump relay or electronic fuel injection (in foreign vehicles) doesn’t operate correctly, your apÂ*plication may require a Tach Adapter. This is due to the trigger signal not being strong enough to trigger both the MSD and the factory’s components."

I didn't need one in my '01 Tib.

Yes, you can run the DIS4. I did for several years and the standalone had nothing to do with it. I had it on the car before the standalone. The DIS is only an ignition amplifier. Doesn't do anything else but that and retard timing.

If the bypass plug works and you're sure all the dipswitches are set correctly, then you've got a bad DIS4. Tell us all your dipswitch settings.

I don't like buying anything electronic used for this reason.

Yellow is a trigger signal and Brown/Yellow is to the coil for that trigger. Violet is ground. Brown/Violet is NOT used.

Read the instructions and try again. Read page 11 only. Wire it EXACTLY as the picture diagram shows. Don't look at the "wire color code" chart to the right as it swaps #2 and #3 triggers and can confuse you.

Do not hook up Brown/Green and Green wires as they are for the 3rd channel which we don't have.
