I have everything unbolted from he tranny,
But i can't seem to get it out still. It comes out about an inch and then it seems that something is sticking on the inside

Is it possible that it should be in a select gear or something

Help

Should this release leaver be removed fromt he tranny or can it still be attached.

It seems that this is my prob is it?

Yes, you need to remove the release lever from the shaft and the clutch slave cylinder off of the transaxle. Otherwise, the release bearing/release fork bind in the tranny and won't let you move it away from the engine. Also, your tranny should be in neutral. When I took out my tranny, mine also did not come out all of the way. It turns out the bracket for the tranny mount (closest to firewall) was hitting on the sway bar, so I had to disconnect the bar (not remove it). Just check all the way around the tranny. Also, if the tail of the transaxle is hitting on the drivers side frame "rail", you can angle the engine/tranny combo. downwards and take advantage of the space of the wheel well by slowly lowering the jack supporting the engine (you are supporting the engine, right?) and then the tranny jack supporting the transaxle. I hope this helps.

Glad to hear you got it out without destroying anything (I hope) Front wheel drive trannys are a LOT more complicated to rip out than a rear wheel drive.

First time I helped pull a FWD tranny was in a honda civic. We had the car on a lift and I was on one and end and the mechanic was on the other.. We got it all most all the way to the ground and the greasy bellhousing slipped out of my hands and it came down... and broke something off.. I forget what now.. He was not happy about replacing it either.

Glad you first experience was better than mine.
