I have been putting this off for awhile so I am going to do it tomorrow. I don't know when the last fluid change was on my transmission. I went to O'Reillys and bought 3 qts of Royal Purple Max Gear 75W90.

This is the correct stuff right? I know some will suggest ordering Redline, but I do not want to wait.

and when i had royal purple in it my tranny didnt shift as smoothly as it did with the redline i had and the syncromesh also

Well it states this in the FAQ:
QUOTE
My vehicle's transmission specifies an API GL-4 gear oil. Can I use Max-Gear®?
Yes. Max-Gear® possesses both API GL-5 and GL-4 certification. Max-Gear® is formulated with Royal Purple's proprietary, Synslide® additive technology to provide the exceptional film strength necessary for GL-5 applications, yet it is noncorrosive to soft metals found in manual transmissions that specify a GL-4 rated lubricant.

^ that seems to be what most Hyundai people go with.
That Royal Purple stuff is supposed to be good too though. The mags say it's a decent oil and I think Stacy from TRUCKS! mentioned you can get a few ponies with it because of how well it reduces friction. dunno.gif

I have been running with mt-90 for quite a while now and just a couple of days ago I added half a quart of lucas pure synthetic oil stabalizer. I called lucas up just to make sure that there were no damaging ingredients in this and they said there wasn't. Does anyone here have any experience with the lucas/redline mix? I think it does shift a little better (goes into the gears smoother, no roughness) but I won't know for sure until I actually drive it hard (been trying to hold back due to gas prices). My second gear will damn near always grind if I try to shift into second really fast though, I suppose the synchro is beginning to "lay over" as a transmissions shop employee put it. I paid like $11 a quart for the redline! That store got me for some dough, but they got it next day, as they get nearly anything you need in that timeframe, so I suppose it was worth it. smile.gif
