no, the AEM goes right down past the battery. i believe the pipe is probably a little longer than you think.

it grabs air from that spot you'd put a fog light down on your lower bumper. REDZ had some good pics but they're gone.

No Dude, I was talkin' bout the intake KayJai posted on page 2!!!!!!!!!!!
I know where the AEM goes.

That one that Kayjai posted requires you to reposition your battery. I think that is what your asking, right?

No,
You have to flip the tray around, so turn it a 180 degrees
So where the battery hold down clip is, it is usually sitting at the front of the car / battery / hole.
It will now sit at the rear hole.
I'll try to explain with the few pix I've posted:

Notice in the first pic you can see where I drilled into the battery tray. The pitch and thread of the bolt escapes me but just take the OEM one to Home Depot or where ever and get a LONG ASS one, with the same thread and pitch.
You will have to play with the angle. 1st and 2nd gens are different because of the rad cradle / headlights. I found that out the hard way. That's why in the first pic you see another piece of metal, acting like a washer to hold the bolt down, my 1/2" hole for the bolt turned out to be like a 1" hole. But it's holding fine now. If not the battery will hit the headlights and rad cradle. It's pretty close to the headlight cup right now as you can see in the first pic.

Thanks KayJai, I guess you have to put a brace under the battery tray for support aswell.
