Big whoop. I have 6 less HP than I thought I had. I'm going outside to my Tiburon, pop the hood, stare needlessly and shake my head in utter disbelief at my less powerful engine. wink

That chart is NOT accurate. The 2001-2003 Elantra use the same motor as the I4 2003 Tiburon. They list the 2003 Tiburon as 140 claim, 134 actual. Those claims should also be held to the 2001-2003 Elantra. Here is the chart for exactly what is affected

Ditto for the 1997 1.8L elantra. The claim of 130, but the actual of 124 should also apply to the 1998 Elantra, and the 1997-98 1.8L Tiburon.

The chart is odd but this is what they are going by for compensation. I can't figure out why it is like this either. The only difference is really the exhaust systems for some of the similiar models. I do know that when it comes down to being exact they are going by vin.

The fact is Hyundai admitted its mistake and they are making amends to their customers the best way they can by offering warranty incentives. Affected Hyundai owners aren't going to get more than that. If owners are THAT unhappy with their cars now that the HP rating is 4% to 6% less than what they thought it was when they purchased their car(s), those owners have 2 choices, (IMO):
1. Sell the car.
2. Suck it up and move on.
