Well, this problem must be worse because I swapped batteries with an old one I had and it DID have juice in it because when I put the terminals back on the alarm went off (like it should have..). But still nothing when the key is turned. So I tried hooking jump cables up to a running car's battery and still nothing when I crank...
I have until Wednesday to figure this out because Tuesday the flanges no one could remember until it was too late are coming in tomorrow. After court (Sears) it's off to the garage once again.
Any ideas as to why nothing happens when the key is turned is appreciated.

Well absolutely nothing happens (lights, clicks, firing, etc.) with the optima bluetop. I forgot that I changed the interior light to one that wasn't burnt out and the hatch was open for the past week. So I guess that little light drained the entire battery.
now with the older battery in the car makes no noise or movements whatsoever when the key is turned to start but the interior light does come on and dims slowly when the door is open, the indicator lights come on (door ajar, fuel, CEL, etc.) but the dash lights (speedo, tachometer, fuel quantity, etc.) do not. The door ajar jingle sounds but the car does not start. The starter makes no attempt to turn over, and the igniton is NOT getting spark.
It's completely dead.
After court, I'm going to check all fuses and charge the optima blue top i have for a full cycle. I should be able to put in the new flange from the dealership now (have to walk there, LOL.) and soon I'll have a running car with a properly aligned timing belt. Plus a shiny new engine bay to boot (12 foot gushers of power steering fluid in all directions REALLY gives you insentive to clean your entire engine bay so it's spotless). Yay!
Wish me luck (more so in court than the POS tib). wink1.gif

Mate I'd say both batteries are dead. The older battery prob has a little juice, but not enough to do more than just run some accessories.
Just a thought, but give your terminal blocks a good clean (inside the hole that goes on the battery post) with some emery just in case they're not getting good contact. If it's not a contact prob it's most prob the battery.

yes, you're logically right. (that's why I'm charging one tomorrow). But why wouldn't the jump start work? is it possible to not have enough juice to jump start a partially charged (like, on it's last leg..) battery?
I figured with TWO batteries powering the car (even if one was only 1/2 or less charged) would at least give me a burp of some sort of something, but the car and starer did nothing. I even checked the relay switch for the clutch pedal (which has never been touched) and it's contacting fine.
we'll see waht a fully charged battery brings for tomorrow.

horrible
i'm pretty sure blowing the 100A ALT fuse in the engine compartment FUSE BOX will do the trick..
wink1.gif
Dunno how that ish happened but that and the security system fuse were the only two blown out of all the fuses I checked..
But anyone know how to get that damn 100A fuse out. I don't know if it's just stuck in there from over time or it you have to unscrew that screw that goes through the bottom..
anyone ever done it?
i will find out if not..
gotta go buy a 100A fuse, LOL.
