Default Re: Check out these gauges

Can the guys/girls running oil pressure guages tell me how much psi you are getting on cold start and once the oil is up to temp..?

I have started to notice that my oil guage (sender at the head) is reading a bit high,
80psi over 2,500rpm and 60psi ona cold start, it used to be at 60psi cold start then drop to around 30psi, something funky is going on i suspect maby a clogged filter or release valve spring,

i just wanted to check first, the oil sender unit is tapped into the top side of the main oil gallery.

Help../ thanks

Are you boosted by chance?

If I understand correctly, this could present a large problem in a boosted car because you don't want your oil pressure over 60psi.

with the engine hot, 5w30 synthetic oil
35 at idle and 60-65 at aroud 3500-4000 rpm

when the engine is cold i often see 85 psi at around 5000 rpm

autometer gauge hooked up to the stock oil pressure port (front of the engine)

measuring off the oil pressure sending unit on the front of the engine.

I have an I4 CVVT engine.
I got my turbo's oil feed from the head *used an easy out to extract the bolt* because when using the oil from the bottom of the block, i got WAY too much pressure.

had an oil change 1k miles ago. use 10-30 full synthetic (mobil 1)

you can also use a restrictor to lower the pressure going into the turbo
