Any of you had the fuel filter replaced at a non hyundai mechanic? I heard that it was a pain the colon. Do you think this type of job is in need of a Hyundai certified mechanic? What about Timing belt?

Well, they charge $60 bucks to do it. That's too much to fuel filter replacement. There's an import Mechanic that charge $30... but just wondering if Hyundai would be better bet.

60 bucks for replaing that thing is a fair price. the non-hyundai mech. doesnt know what he is getting himself into and will probably tack and hour or two of labor on after it takes him a few hours to do it. it was a pita for me, but i didnt have flare wrenches.

^^they must have done it a couple times before and stolen the filters. really though I don't see how it could be done in less than an hour.
the way I did it was taking off the drivers side tires and inner fender well. flare wrenchs, reg wrenchs, and vise grips all came out. then once I finally got it off, strip out the threads and tear a o-ring putting the top line back on the new one. new filter and a new o-ring and i was done. about a 3-4 hour affair. (including taking another car to get parts when autozone was 15 minutes away.)
btw, I found that the advance auto one only had about 2 threads to screw into. the autozone one had about three. do yourself a favor and get one from napa. maybe they'll be better...... wink1.gif
anyways all in all, changing the fuel filter was the MOST annoying thing I've ever done on the tib.

So wheres it hidden at? Im sure with a good look Ill be able to work it out smile.gif

^^ read my post
if your looking at your engine it's on the back right corner. black canister looking thing.
it's easier to get to through the fender well.
