Guess we're still learning things about these engines. smile.gif If I recall you told me once that you were the one that convinced your dad to buy his Tib.....which got me thinking, how is the original engine holding up?

He's got 150,000 miles on it. He just had to replace the fuel pressure regulator(leaking), and the Exhaust manifold (cracked).

Other than that, it's running great.

I don't know how much clearer I can make it for you.

The pistions, rods, crank and block height are a square. Change the height/length of any one of the 4 components, and you will need to adjust the others accordingly, or live with the effects.

Use a shorter rod, less compression.
Use a shorter pistion(dished), less compression
Taller block, less compression
shorter throw crank, less compression

Use a taller rod, more compression
Use a taller pistion(Domed), More compression
Shorter block, more compression
Longer throw crank, more compression

I'm not going to do the math FOR you, unless I get a check in the mail. tongue.gif (and it better be blank! )

You've got your own setup. Do your own math to get it setup the way you want. I've given the cylinder bore differences, and you know the crank throw differences from specs listed on the motor. Do the math to figure out what pistions/rods you need. wink

If you don't know how to do the math, I suggest you pick up a book or two on engine blueprinting, and find out how to do the math. If you're building your own motor, you NEED to know this stuff.

I don't like the sound of that --- ou AINT on your own OK --- I will help you out as much as I possibly can.

Random - Is it at all possible for you to install the 1.8 crank in the 2.0 block with a rod and piston and get it to TDC and then tell me what the distance in mm to the deck is, or even measure the cc's in the bore at TDC to the piston??

This will help me design a modded piston for this specific reason from the blanks I machine them from, IF possible. Let me know please.

Yes, I am going to Do all of the above, along with checking the combustion chamber volume, etc..etc..

my point to Kilershark68 is that his setup is different that mine. The numbers that I use won't necessarly be the same numbers he uses. he should take his own measurements and do his own math so he can learn, and also to help him make more intelligent decisions as to what to change where, or what to use where.
