The blocks outside is identical to the 1.8 and 2.0 - even the crank angle sensor is in the precisely identicalposition. I will measure the material thickness between the cylinders on each block and let you have this tomorrow some time.
Russ -- I don't see why not ---- I am busy with the Billet rods as we speak for the 2.0 and 1.8 engines, but if you need any other size,let me know and I will make them up.
Also hang in there for a while till I can completely make up the first set of rods and then test their weight, tensle strength, tonage, and COST....
Once this is all done and I am happy with it -- we can talk.

BTW. The pistons and rods are not the same between 1.8L and 2.0L.
The 1.8L uses 2mm domes on the pistion
the 2.0L uses a .5mm dome on the pistion
The Rods between the 1.8L and 2.0L look identical, and measured out identical, but have different casting marks on them. I'm waiting for my set of Micrometers to be retuned to me for me to do a full check down to the .0001 of a inch.

As promised here are the pictures of the 1.8 crank in a 2.0 block. Now I want everyone to know I just took pix for visual purposes only, and for a quick ref on measurement I used a ruler to measure the gap from piston to TDC.
Random will get a more accurate reading soon. But for quick referencing it was 7mm from the side of the piston and from the center of the piston it was 6mm.

from what i remember this is actutaly a good thing performance wise as longer rods have a
slower Piston Velocity and less crank angle
wich is better on turbo engines as it allow's slightly more compression to be used before detonation is a problem

preliminary measurements.
