Do the 1.8 and 2.0 betas have the same horsepower?

Default Do the 1.8 and 2.0 betas have the same horsepower?

If they do what made the 1.8's have the same as the 2.0 even though its a smaller displacement? It cant just be the 1.8 cam that everyone puts in their 2.0's because that just adds a few horses. Nothing major.

according to wikipedia

1.8 = 130 HP
2.0 Beta I = 140 HP
2.0 Beta II = 138 HP w/ slightly more torque

so a tentative answer is no, they do not put out the same hp

2hp was removed from the Beta I in a SAE horsepower controversy. It is now stated to have 138hp.


The 1.8L intake cam is an upgrade to be used on the 2.0L for an extra 4 degrees of duration.

^what he said! this was done on the F2EVO in England, as well as a few emissions tweaks for an output of 154hp.
