It's worth a try. You could call them first.

My 2001 was also covered.

It was like a $1200 bill. Something crazy like 900 bux for the manifold.

After they did the recall swap on mine, I felt a definate power LOSS around 3k rpm. Mine wasn't cracked though, they just performed the recall when I went in for a service.

Why did you feel a loss in power around 3000 rpm???

If I take it up there since my car is not drivable right now. They will just swap it with me right and I can sign off that I got the recall. We called and they said call tomorrow because the guy in the shop had just left. So I will call again in the morning and let everyone know how it works out. I wont have to pay 1200 will I? Ill just buy a used one on here for like 75 shipped lol. They wont charge me to swap it for a new one since its recall right???

I really don't know.
With mine, I didn't sign anything. They updated that it was done through Hyundai's VIN tracking system, or whatever the hell it is.
I'm not sure how it'll work if they don't have the actual car there. I would think that in order for Hyundai to do warranty work (which is what this should be, more or less, being a recall) they need to do the work themselves.

Oh alright. yeah it sounds like id need to take the car to them but less work for them. But the car isnt drivable. If they want me to drag it up there and they can push it around then they can have fun. Ill bring it up on the toe dolly lol.

So I guess ill go get that tomorrow or tow the car down there tomorrow.

Thanks for the info.

Yes, that is correct. The car has to physically be there to have warranty work performed, which is what the Manifold recall is. I work at a Hyundai dealer, so I know. We do a few of these a week.

It will be called Campaign V04, and they will inspect it to see if it's cracked. If it is, they'll replace it, if not then they won't replace it. It's like $300 worth of parts, not counting labor. The manifold used to be more expensive (around $900 I think), but when it turned into a recall, Hyundai dropped the price so they didn't have to pay so much out in warranty costs.

Don't worry about them having to push the car around at the dealership... if the techs there are anything like ours, their lazy asses could use the exercise... lol.

So will it cost me any money at all?? My dad is a certified mechanic. So if its more then 75.00 ill just buy a used one on here shipped and he will just put it on and get a new gasket.

No, it's covered under the recall. They will check it and replace it if it's cracked. Either way you won't have to pay anything.
