Mines cracked, too. I found out about the recall a few days ago and I'm going monday to have my mani replaced and to have them fix my seatbelts due the recall on those. I guess some places just suck and don't want to help anyone. sad.gif

when i bought mine, the dealer took it to a hyundai dealer to have it "looked" over, and they checked and replaced my manifold for nothing. but i have an 01 so...

and i would assume they would bolt up, since they are the same engine (beta1). but i'm new to this car so please dont take my word for it. however, if it's cracked and someones offering you one, i'd take it tongue.gif

Redz, do you know if the RD2 exhaust manifold will fit an RD1? Any differences in flanges or length?

the cast rd2 exhaust mani is longer then the tubular non cat rd1 set up i know. just cause i am running a tubular bent rd1 set up on my 2000, and had to make like a 8 inch extension.

I have a cast manifold, I think, not tubular. Does this mean that there's infact 3 kinds of exhaust manifolds for the RD1 (cast 2-piece, cast 1-piece, and tubular)? I still need someone to tell me how close of a bolt-up this is going to be 02.gif

if your other question about drilling was related to drilling into the exhaust manifold, no that would not work. intake and charge pipes yes with turbo only; supercharger it would have to be hooked up to your supercharger manifold.

oh boy... yeah if you have your cat the rd1 exhaust manifold should fit as long as it can attach to the cat. it's too bad i gave away my exhaust manifold. damnit i was soooo retarded for doing that. get the manifold replaced, then sensor. it might be contributing to the CEL so just do one thing at a time. sensor costs about $50-$60 from autopartswarehouse.com

an old cat could also be throwing your O2 code.

it may be:

cracked manifold
bad gasket between manifold and engine or manifold and downpipe
bad flexpipe
bad pipes
bad resonator
bad mufler
etc....

they split the mounting points on the new manifolds. It has room to expand rather then crack.

My 01 was covered.

^^

even on the newer ones (like on the XD elantras) with the expansion joints, they crack. i have two of the newest design XD mani's, and both have cracks down the center of them.

as factory ones go, the oem 1.8 ones seem to be the best option.
