QUOTE
how to get remote start on a manual car(using a magentic reed switch). it also makes it so that i only have to push the clutch in to start if its in gear. its wired so that it directly bypasses the stock clutch safety switch, and is only switched closed when the shifter returns to its neutral spot.:

If you want your car to start without pressing on clutch - just tap two wires that goes to a switch together.

I really like that solution tibby01. So much simpler than some of the ridiculous contraptions people rig up.

just to clear a little up. There are TWO switches on most tibs. For the ones with Cruise control.. there is one at the top, facing the driver. This lets the cruise know to turn it self off when you depress the clutch. The second one is at the other end of the pedal travel and is against the firewall. THAT is the one you need to bypass.

All I did was take a piece of two inch wire, crimp to ends (both male I think) and when I unplugged the harness from it, plugged the wire into the plastic end of the harness. Now the starter bypass switch thinks the clutch is in ALL the time.

^^^ But tibby01's modification allows a stupid operator (himself ehhehe) to be completely oblivious and leave the vehical in any gear whatsoever. It simply won't work unless it's in the correct spot.

I likes that.

Tibby01, would it be possible to put one of those in each gear position to create a display for your dashboard of what gear you're in?

or are they too big for that?

see, I do not like the fact that you cannot start the car in gear. I am not saying I like to do that.. but I have in the past HAD to do it with some of my older cars.

I find that the stock bypass is just one more silly "nanny" between me and actually controlling it.

mad, i did it because i have a remote starter in on my manual car. this is just being used as an added safety added to me never leaving my car in gear.

DTN, i dont think that could be done, not in the same manner i used this atleast. the distance side to side between say, 2nd and 4th gear is so little that the switches would interfer with each other.
