Default Things you found out

Mine comes one every few months and to make sure it's not serious I reset the computer and make sure it doesn't come on again. The last time it came on this summer it was a code for my Batery being overcharged. I had everything shut off in the car during solo racing and my batery overcharged!

My O2 sensor trips the CEL whenever it rains. I think I have a bare wire or something. When I install my headers I will have to investigate.

Water might be getting into your connector too. You might want to cover them with some high temp RTV.

okay, i figured i'd post my happy little CEL problem here so i didn't start another thread about the same thing...

i went to gatlinburg this weekend and about 3/4 of the way there, the CEL comes on. i thought maybe it was because my boyfriend filled up my tank and didn't click 3 times. next time we filled up, i made sure to do it RIGHT and eventually, it went off. two days later, it comes on again. we hadn't filled up since the last time. it's been 2 days since then and it's still on. i can't get it to go off. a couple weeks ago, i threw a CEL, adjusted the gas cap, and it went off eventually. the car runs fine and nothing is out of the ordinary. I don't think it coming on 3 times in a month could all be from the gas cap (cause i'm really careful about it).

the only thing i can figure is it might be the o2 sensor. i got the ssa header and installed it. it made my exhaust rattle, so my dad fixed it. i wonder if maybe it's knocking the o2 sensor out of wack or something. I DON'T REALLY KNOW!

basically, i'm asking this: should i just suck it up and take it in? it's buggin the crap out of me.

get a mechanic to scan it with a obd2 scan tool. post the codes it shows up here, and with webtech i can show you exactly what the problem is.

I just ignored the light, mine was on for 2/3 weeks before it went away. I absolutely did nothing to it at from the time it went on to the time it went off. I am thinking now it might be the cold weather/water/moisture on sensor/gas cap lose... or all of the above.

Get it scanned, you may have a bad Gas Cap or gasket for it. If you change altitude too much and the air in the tank expands, you can get a leak that'll pop the same CEL.

If it keeps coming and going though, I'd have to think it's a wiring issue somewhere.
