Tip: To keep from getting the Gas Cap Evap CDL like TibNRice is getting, tighten your cap until you hear it click 3 times.

 

I always turn it till I hear it click, ... just to be sure its on there smile.gif

 

i just don't worry about the light anymore....i'm sure it'll screw me in the ass one day..

 

ya my light came on just before my plug wire on #3 went crappy on me... was on about a week before it started missing. Dunno if that helps at all but ya never know... maybe check yer wires if you can't find anything else wrong.

 

yes 3 clicks!!!! cuz mine went off and it was only 1 click.. and it takes about 1/4 tank to about alomst half or more till the CEL will pop up..

i would have to say it is a random missfire, Check that and you might have to change one or more plugs. Dont forget to reset the computer by disconnecting the pos. battery wire for ten mins. or so

 

FYI : it's still on... i did the fuel thing like mentioned. i dont really know what it could be, the motor runs fine. oh well, i'll get it checked soon.

 

disconnect your battery for a few...reconnect it...check engine light will be off...don't worry about it....do the 3 click thing....but i just don't care mine's been reset a few times and still comes back on...i've gotten use to it...kind of a surprise when it isn't on...

EDIT: yes it's still throwing the same stupid evap codes.

 

I had this last summer. CEL came on but car was running fine. I tried all the above ( gas cap, disconnect battery ) , still same thing. Took it to the dealer and it turned out to be a bad O2 sensor. Had that replaced and Voila!!!!
