Check Engine Light!?!? WHAT?!
#1
Ok, this took me for surprise.
Last night, all of a sudden, my check engine light came on. I haven't done any engine work to the car for a long time. I need an oil change, and I'm gettin one tomorrow, but I know the CEL is for other things. I'm at 67000+ some miles and I have no clue at all why it's on.
For debate purposes, I have an AEM CAI, SS Autochrome Header, NGK Plugs and Wires

u really think that would have anything to do with refueling the car?
Yes, if your cap is not on correctly it will cause a CEL.
Basically an Evap leak
Next, is check your plugs, and wires that's usually the other case if it's not the cap.
Other than that, it's a little more serious.
If you tighten your cap and after a few runs, it doesn't go off
When you're at the dealer get them to scan it.

I may be a whore, but I'm a usefull one.
If you get a random CEL and have refuled or syphoned recently, it could be that your gas cap, yes, your GAS CAP, is not tight or is leaking.
It takes up to 15-20 Driving cycles (Get in car, start car, drive car until you hit operating temperature, park, turn car off = driving cycle) to clear that CEL.
It's a shame but some folks have paid to have it cleared just because they don't know what it is.

When mine came on, I was doing 140km on the highway(401, for those in Ont).. and the CEL came on.. Turns out, that cyl#4 was misfiring. You may want to look at the Plugs/Cables, as it was my reason..

Go to Auto Zone... they check the CEL for free. I've thrown a CEL for the fuel cap once... but weird thing is, it was on properly :-/ it went off about 1 or 2 tanks later

Well,..... others would have other thoughts tongue.gif wink.gif
But yeah 1st check is gas cap.
Only time I have ever had a CEL is when my purge value stuck open because it was -50billion out and it froze open. It was replaced under warranty smile.gif
