here it is.....

restarted the car cel comes on....
scan the code and it comes up with

P0335 crankshaft position sensor A cuircuit malfuntion.

how bad is this and where is this sensor? I think if I am correct it controls the timeing for the car...which explain the misfiring

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge hooked up, it almost sunds to me like your fuel pump is dying or a bad regulator, hook up a guage and see what it does.

uhmmm.... I don't think so I can race the car on the high way and it idles fine when it cold....

The crank sensor SHOULD be easy to replace, but with that many miles on the car, it might take some time to remove it from all the built up gunk that will likely be coating it.

I am not exactly sure where it will be, but it will either be on the harmonic balancer side (the pulley that spins your accessories like the a/c compressor and alternator), or on the tranny side of the crankshaft. I would find a service manual for the car or look it up on webtech. I wouldn't think it could cost more than like $50 bucks new from a dealer.

That should likely solve the problem,

I suppose the ecu was bad because you maf and injector circuits are no longer reading some crazy numbers and losing power?

Nope.

The CPS is on the drivers side of the block, next to the temperature sending unit for the oil.

We've gone over this one tons of times.

ordered a new cps from autozone and I will be installing it tonight. I took off the old CPS it came off with no problem. I still can't understand why it went bad.

could the heat from the headers ruined the CPS or is it just one of those pieces that just breaks @ or around 200,000? I could not find many tib owners that actully had this problem because the piece failed. I geuss I will find out tonight.

keep us updated if the new CKP sensor fixes the problem

can you do us a favor and tell us the physical condition of that original CKP sensor, especially the front part (where the magnet is exposed). look for scouring, scratches, cracks, damage or even some gunk on it.

also, what clutch are you running? stock or a gripier aftermarket one?

before the problems started happening, did you hear any unusual grinding noise(s) coming from the flywheel side of the engine?

if the problem persists even if you have installed the new CKP sensor, it could be 3 things:

- wiring/connector/harness problem
- ecu faulty
- crankwalk

yeah I checked the old CPS when I took it off and it just had oil on it...HOWEVER the face of the magnet had some significant wear so I don't know

also, did the new CKP sensor do anything? do you have the same problems, same cel(s)

alright final time everybody......

I just replaced the CPS and..........
...........dramatic hold..................

NO CEL
NO MISFIRING
AND BEST OF ALL....
NO STALLING

I compared both of the CPS and the heads looked identical???????
I think the "shelf life" for a CPS is 200,000...... I mean it is a magnet and heat and magnets just don't work good together.
I am so happy to have my tib back. tonight was the first night where I could actually drive it and enjoy my new headers.

PS.

I am using a stock clutch. put it in last summer when I replaced the transmission.
