I wouldint consider the 1.8L a beta I..
Different height, different crank, different pistons, different rods..
Although bearings, bolts, gaskets, head, and external parts are the same..
I dunno.. You could argue it either way...

to be honest, the 1.8L was made first, and thats the true beta. The 2.0L was a after thought tongue.gif

I checked into some notes I made from talking to random in the past.
And well. The beta 1.8L rods looks to be about 3mm shorter then the beta1 2.0L.
I am still not sure about the the 1.8L dome, but from a past post I saw. Its only a 1mm difference, I dont know how much difference that would make in CR without doing some math. which I just dont care about tongue.gif
But again, Jaws...You really need to touch the topic of the post. And not go off on something else. If you really wanted to dicuss 2.0L and 1.8L pistons you shoulda made another post on your own and not have hijacked mine.

Its like calling the CVVT beta a beta II

I didnt do the math.. i estimated..
If you want to confirm the 1.8L dome pistons... just ask random.. easy as that.

I was going to lock this, I thought it was getting ugly, but instead I am going to give ONE general warning before I start issuing real warnings.. NO attacks, no flame, and stay on topic.
As for everyone's information. the 1.6 (rare in the US) 1.8 and the 2.0 are ALL betas. It is not the internals that make an engine what it is, but the basic archetecture. While all three engines are different internally and to some extent internally, they are all based off of the same design, just scaled up or down to suit their needs...

That would be cheap way to lower compression ratio without spacer.
